Job Description

As Tech Lead at Appstack, you will own the technical foundation of our platform — from webapp to data pipelines — and lead a growing team of talented engineers.
Your main focus will be ensuring the stability, scalability, and evolution of our webapp while steering technical direction across the broader stack: cloud infrastructure, mobile SDKs, and data systems.

You’ll work closely with the founders to define the technical roadmap, make pragmatic architecture decisions, and help Appstack scale efficiently. You’ll be hands-on when needed, while setting the standards for engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end technical strategy for the Appstack platform.

• Take ownership of the webapp’s architecture, performance, and reliability.

• Guide and support engineers across data, SDK, and infra teams to ensure cohesive execution.

• Collaborate with product and design to deliver a fast, intuitive, and stable user experience.

• Drive code quality, testing, deployment, and observability best practices.

• Balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability and maintainability.

• Contribute directly to development when needed — especially on the webapp.

Tech Stack

• Webapp: React (Next.js), TypeScript, Drizzle, tRPC, Vercel

• Backend & Semantic Layer: Python, cube.js, GCP, Cloud Run

• Data: BigQuery, dbt, Airbyte, Kubernetes

• SDKs: Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, React Native

You might be a good fit if

Education & Experience

• No degree required — we value skill and execution over credentials.

• 5+ years of experience in software development, ideally across multiple layers of the stack.

• Proven leadership experience or tech ownership in a product company.

• Strong experience in webapp engineering, ideally full-stack (frontend + backend).

• Familiarity with big data stacks and cloud infrastructure.

• Bonus: Mobile app experience

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, TypeScript).

• Good architectural instincts for API design, system modularity, and scalability.

• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills on complex web systems.

• Exposure to CI/CD, monitoring, and cloud-native deployment workflows.

• Ability to context-switch between frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure discussions.

• Pragmatic approach: you care about solving the right problem, not using the fanciest tech.

Soft Skills

• You lead by example and can earn trust from highly skilled engineers.

• You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical topics.

• You enjoy building simple, reliable systems and eliminating unnecessary complexity.

• You are hands-on and not afraid to jump into code when needed.

• English fluency is required.
